General Membership Meeting Minutes
March 26, 2010


The meeting was called to order at 4:30 pm with  49  members present.
The minutes from the previous meeting were read and accepted. 
The treasurer’s report was suspended via a motion. 
All officers were present.
 
Recognition of new members
There was 1 new member sworn in.

        Reports of accidents sickness and death – 

·                    John Binder ill.
·        Kevin Ormsby brother passed.
         Allen Hale’s father passed.
      Dave Hawks had surgery

  Presidents Report  

The presidents Grievance summary is as follows –

·        Verbal for not answering radio. Granted.

·        Verbal and change of shift for vacation time. Denied.

·        Written warning for doing unauthorized work denied.

·        Extended sick time denial (filed).

·        Extended sick pay for 80 hours heard.

·        Verbal reprimand. (Filed).

·        2 on the job injury pay denials. (heard)

·        Doctors note requirements. (Heard)

 Arbitration summary –

·        Pay issue (working out of classification) scheduled for April 23rd.

·        Written warning March 10. Settled (granted).

·        Insubordination March 31.

·        Temporary working overtime scheduled April 21st.

·        Sick time issues being scheduled.

·        MM doing trades work scheduled June 14th.

Other Business under the president’s report-

 ·          Plant reorganization meetings with Plant-op team. Transfer and overtime main issues. Job Assignments (based on seniority) will be used to assign staff in the new zones.

·            Many sick time issues. Have members report all problems.

·            Met with Hank Baier last Friday.  Hank and Rich to attend in April to discuss NCRC and the Reorganization.

·           Benefits eligibility forms mailed out. Make sure everyone knows they need to respond.

  
 Committee reports – 
  • Scholarship committee – reported that funds from the dinner dance were $2481 and there will be 5 scholarships will be awarded.
  • Safety Committee – nothing to report
  • Apprenticeship committee – nothing to report
  • Bylaws – nothing to report yet.

 Unfinished Business –         Ken thanked all that helped set up the dinner dance.  



 
New Business –


   Nick Roumel was here and is available any legal questions our members have.

·        There was a motion to donate $ 250.00 and a t shirt to Don Aikins for his friend’s Childs surgery. The motion was seconded. The motion passed.

·        There was a second motion to donate $250.00 to the child the motion was seconded and the motion passed.

·       There was a motion to donate $250.00 towards rugby jackets for Fred Keeling. The union logo will be on the jackets to show support.   The motion was seconded and the motion passed.

         Motion for a golf outing – not to exceed $7000.00 ticket price will be $35.00 timber trace tentative June 5th. Member and a relative are allowed to attend. $5.00 will go to the scholarship fund. Bill Smith will chair. Ed and Fred are the committee. The motion was seconded the motion passed.

Good of the union –

The jacket drawing was held and number 376 Mark Rickleman wasn’t present so $20.00 more goes into the pocket.

 
Adjournment –

The meeting was adjourned at 5:21 pm.
