General Membership Meeting Minutes
February 26, 2010

The meeting was called to order at 4:30 pm with 47 members present.
The minutes from the previous meeting were read and accepted.
The treasurer’s report was suspended via a motion.
Tom Williams was absent due to having to work.

 Recognition of new members –
There were 3 new members sworn in. 

Reports of accidents sickness and death –
It was reported that -

                             Steve Hindy injured.
    ·                    Beth Iris is out sick.

Presidents Report –

The presidents Grievance summary is as follows –

·        Three grievances heard over sick time issues. (Denied). Submitted.

·        Verbal for not answering radio. (Granted).

·        Verbal and change of shift. (Denied) and submitted.

·        MM doing trades work filed. Will be submitted to arbitration. Meeting with AFSCME.

·        Extended sick time denial (filed).

·        Verbal reprimand. (scheduled) 3/3

·        2 on the job injury pay denials. (Scheduled) 3/3

·        2 doctors note requirements. (Scheduled) 3/3.

·        DLO (filed).

 
Arbitration summary –

·        OT heard 1/8. (Settled).

·        Working out of classification (Pay) scheduled Jan. 25^th.

·        Pay issue (working out of classification) January 12^th. (Rescheduled).

·        Job transfer February 2^nd. (Settled)

·        Written warning March 10. Settled (granted)

·        Insubordination March 31.

·        Need to think about adding arbitrators. Currently have 5 thinking about adding a few more to the list.

Other Business under the president’s report –

·           Plant reorganization meeting with Plant-op team 12/21. Bi-weekly meetings scheduled                                    every other Monday.

·          Many sick time issues. Have members report all problems.

·           Benefits eligibility forms mailed out. Make sure everyone responds.

·           March 13^th dinner dance tickets available.

·           Working on scheduling a meeting with Hank Baier to discuss NCRC.

·          Working on letter to Regents on sick time issues.

·           E-Board meeting discussions focused on negotiations.

·          Employee satisfaction surveys. Be honest and let them know how you feel about sick time and                         other issues.

·           Legal clinic rescheduled to next month.

 

Committee reports –

• Scholarship committee – $150 on 50/50
• Safety Committee – nothing to report.
• Apprenticeship committee –   nothing to report.
• Bylaws – meeting on Thursdays. Updating the bylaws and adding new rules.

Unfinished Business –

·        Dinner Dance tickets are on sale. Serving BBQ come eat drink and socialize. 3/12. Looking for more volunteers.

 

New Buisness-

·        Terry Theisen going to work on the website. Motion to reimburse Terry for his vacation day. The motion was seconded and the motion was passed.

 

 Good of the union –

The jacket drawing was held and number 6 Don Aikins was present.
