About your Union

The University of Michigan Skilled Trades Union, Inc.represents 30 Trade classifications with membership approaching 500 "Skilled Trades" men and women.

We have a strong affiliation with the AFL-CIO. Together we work to provide our membership with the union advantage of better pay, benefits, working conditions and a voice on how the job gets done.

Founded in 1967, The University of Michigan Skilled Trades Union, Inc. has worked with the University of Michigan to successfully represent our membership in obtaining the best wages, hours, and other conditions of employment for all employees of the represented classifications.

Our members work on renovation and restoration projects for the University of Michigan. We maintain the many buildings for the housing department. This includes the administration buildings, hospitals and health centers. Not only in Ann Arbor, but at the Flint and Dearborn Campuses as well.
